Exhibit on Display at the Lost City Museum in April

Overton, Nev.  The Lost City Museum proudly presents “Dos Damas De Arte” an exhibition by artists Katherine Christensen and Ann Nahser from April 1 to April 30, 2010.

This dynamic duo portrays the full spectrum of the desert experience. Both the wildlife and the beautiful scenery will be represented in this springtime show.

Carson High School’s Stephanie Kulla places second; Pershing County High School’s Erika Terry takes third

RENO, Nev. Washoe County high school student, Emily Orellana won the 5th Annual Nevada State Finals of Poetry Out Loud for the second consecutive year Saturday in Reno.  A seventeen year-old junior at Rainshadow Community Charter High School, Orellana received $1,000, an all-expense-paid trip to represent Nevada at the National Finals April 26-27 in Washington, DC and $2,000 for her school for the purchase of poetry books and/or programming. Second place went to Carson High School student, Stephanie Kulla and third place to Pershing County High School’s Erika Terry, who each won $500 in addition to $1,000 for their respective schools.

Orellana recited the poems “And Soul” by Eavan Boland, “I Felt a Funeral in My Brian” by Emily Dickinson and  “Rough Music” by Deborah Digges. 

“I’ve always held an interest in literature, and from the time I was young, I have loved to write,” said Orellana who also won last year’s state competition.  “Performing is a love of mine and my dreams for the future include continuing on with spoken word and poetry; becoming published is a goal I’m working towards.”
